Body As Vehicle San Francisco

// Runner’s Booty//

What I ate Today:

breakfast: 1.5 c oatmeal
green vegetable juice (no sweeteners, I’m that person now)
1 c coffee
snack 1: handful of raw nuts
apple
snack 2: 1 portion carrots and hummus
small blood orange
snack 3:  remaining carrots
apple
small orange
2 sugar cookies (valentines day gift, had to……)

dinner: 1 bag of TJ’s Asian Veggie Stirfry

GOOD STUFF!

I was feeling bad about the cookies, but then I thought what the heck.  There’s always something to indulge in, and you can’t beat yourself up over it.  I really don’t want to go down that road again.  I want this to be my mature weightloss, a sustainable approach, not the approach I took when I was 19, which was not being kind to myself and which was only out of insecurity.  I’m looking toward my future: in terms of health, in terms of long term health, and in terms of success.  I want to enable myself to succeed, and in order to do so I have to help myself feel great and look great so that I have the confidence I need to excel in my competitive field.

I feel more calm than I have in the past.  I don’t want to loose this weight over night, and I don’t want to make myself run every day in a frantic attempt to lose 10 pounds in 7 days (not really, but you know what I mean).  I’m hoping to drop 10-15 before my college graduation and leave without this college weight.  It makes me feel older than I am!  And I miss my runners booty!!

So I’ll depart on that note.  Inspiration for the tomorrow:  my runners booty and getting it back.

This is soooo funny, on sooo many different levels. :)

In all seriousness, the way you feel about others at the gym has less to do with them and more to do about how you feel about yourself (as indicated in this cute graphic). The vast majority of people do not go to the gym to judge others and in almost all cases you should feel good about what the gym is doing for YOUR body. If you’re too concerned about what others think (remember - it has NOTHING to do with you), you’ll miss out on the sweaty fun.:)

Today’s Mantra: “Make Mistakes”
(I have to credit my friend Sharon for that one. She’s been using the mantra ‘make mistakes’ all year, and I think it’s her best one yet)
Many people wait until they find the ‘best’ workout, the ‘right’ foods to eat, the ‘perfect’ plan and spend months collecting the most ‘savvy’ tips. The truth is, we’re all individuals: what works for one person may not work for you. It’s not just about your body: your brain has to be “cool” with what you’re doing too. Finding what works for YOU is a matter of trial and error and a journey filled with bumps along the way. It’s not just normal to make mistakes: it’s awesome.
Get ‘cool’ with making mistakes, k? They’re awesome teachers, can be loads of fun, and will help you tremendously along the way.

My inspiration to work to look healthy, feel great, and succeed at my goals.

Remembering how I was living when I was the most happy.  I had a tan, I was eating salads every day, exercising, and I was really busy but I managed to have a lot of fun as well.

I want to be this girl again!  I have a sneaky feeling my friends and family would say I AM this girl right now, but I’m the authority and I’m saying it’s about how I feeeeel on the inside.

In all honesty, I was self conscious when these photos were taken too.  But I felt I was living in a better way.

Today I ate:

1 cup of coffee
a pack of TJ’s nuts
3 small blood oranges
an apple
2 TJ’s prepackaged salads

For dinner:
veggie stirfry

Exercise: none today, but in the AM tomorrow.

7 Foods Skinny People Eat

These foods have been proven by numerous studies to either boost metabolism, reduce fat absorption, tame blood sugar levels or help metabolize food!

(by SarahsFabChannel)

// Day 1//

That day was supposed to be today, but now it’s tomorrow.

I went to Trader Joe’s and bought lots of healthy food, prepared my self for the beginnings of success in the week ahead, and proceeded to binge after sliding down a slippery slope in the midst of a food documentary called Fork Over Knife that was supposed to inspire me.

I made myself feel disgusting.  The movie, and the binge (which consisted of 2 packs of raw nuts, 1 TJ’s salad, 1/2 a pack of Top Ramen noodles (dry) and a serving of pasta with butter and parmesan cheese).  The movie made me realize that I don’t recognize my diet anymore.  And this is why I don’t recognize my butt, my legs or my face.

Who have I become?  Is this the body I will succeed in?  In order to set myself up for success, I need to avoid the awful train wreck inevitably ahead of me if I continue this way for much longer.  I want to be my best self for my 23rd birthday, for my internship, for my graduation, and in order to be very successful in this extremely difficult semester.  I will be reintegrating exercise back into my life, reducing my sugar intake, expelling animal products from my diet, and focusing on healthy ways to manage my high stress levels.

This begins the personal tracking of my goals for optimal health and happiness, which happens to mean proper stress management, weight loss and sustainable eating habits.

Tomorrow is Monday and tomorrow it begins.
